6 Go-to Astrological Resources

I’ve been an astrological fan girl since age 10 and through plenty of trial and error I’ve developed an indispensable cosmic tool kit. Whether you’re an established astrologer or complete rookie, these are the 6 essential resources that you should have in your arsenal.

1. Astrodienst (aka astro.com)- I can’t recommend this website enough! This is the astrological holy grail. It’s easy and fast to use and you can pull up just about any chart your mind can conceive of. If you haven’t taken the plunge and purchased astrology software yet, this is the second best thing. You can use astro.com to generate a free copy of your birth chart, transits, solar return, synastry, progressions and more!

One of the most indispensable features is the personal daily horoscope section. This isn’t your typical ‘sun sign’ horoscope that you’d find in a newspaper. You know the one, that tells you (and every other Pisces) that you’ll meet an exciting new love interest this week. Astrodienst provides you with a horoscope that’s personalized to your unique birth date, time and location so that you can get a taste for the astrological weather you’re experiencing.

On Thursdays, they offer free detailed explanations for your current transits. Or you can pay around $45 to unlock this feature for a full calendar year (well worth it in my opinion!). And, if you want to deepen your skills and get practical experience, their forum is filled with helpful people who are often willing to give valuable advice if you ask nicely.

2. Magic of I Planner– I’m a bit of a planner enthusiast and after hundreds of dollars and plenty of trial and error I’ve finally discovered the perfect one- the Magic of I planner. Decorated with vegan leather, gorgeous illustrations, gilded gold edges and ribbon placeholders, this planner is a sight to behold. And it still manages to transcend every planner I’ve ever used in the functionality department. I am utterly smitten.

Each month includes a calendar view, monthly and weekly goals, as well as plenty of room to write in your to-do list for each day. But it doesn’t stop there! The Magic of I planner also features daily mundane astrological transits, intention setting pages for the new and full moons, pagan sabbats, the astrological moon sign for each day and void of course indicators.

This planner is indispensable to me and if you enjoy astrology I know you’ll fall head over heels for it too. Magic of I was created with an incredible amount of love, care and intention and its high-vibe energy shines through. Be sure to order your planner in advance as they are incredibly popular and have been known to sell out (especially after being featured in the Goop holiday gift guide in 2020).

3. Astro Butterfly Newsletter– If you haven’t signed up for this mind-blowing newsletter yet, what are you waiting for? Astro Butterfly sends out about 1-2 transformative emails a week that will expand your consciousness with their astute and timely astrological insight. I especially enjoy the month-ahead newsletter that acts as a kind of astrological energy forecast. I highly recommend using this in conjunction with your planner so that you can chart out the major aspects, eclipses, retrogrades and other important planetary movements.

One of the biggest strengths of this newsletter is the way it effortlessly mingles astrology with current events without getting politically charged. You need Astro Butterfly in your life! Check out the blog to get a preview of the high quality content you can expect from their newsletter. Over 48,000 subscribers can’t be wrong.

4. Deluxe Moon– While I’m still on the hunt for an all-around impressive astrology app (c’mon astro.com, make my day), I adore Deluxe Moon for its simplicity and beauty. Deluxe Moon displays a lovely, luminous image of (you guessed it!) the moon in whatever phase it’s in that day. It also tells you what zodiac sign the moon is currently in (hour by hour), when the moon is void of course, what day of the lunar cycle we’re in and what time the moon will rise.

Of course, there are a myriad of other features, such as the phase calendar, recommendations + precautions as well as health and self care suggestions in accordance with the moon sign. And that’s only the tip of the iceberg! I’ve had this app for a couple years now and I still don’t feel like I’ve mastered everything. Deluxe Moon is a great choice for anyone looking to get more in tune with the ebb and flow of lunar energy.

5. Honeycomb Collective Astrological Almanac– Every serious astrology student needs a copy of the Honeycomb Collective Almanac. While I prefer using the Magic of I to write out my daily to-do’s, quarterly goals, monthly intentions and more, I frequently reference the Honeycomb almanac because it contains mundane and personal transits in a planner format.

One of the most amazing aspects of this almanac is how insanely customizable it is. The price ranges from $10-55 depending on how many bells and whistles you want. You enter your birth information with your order and select your time zone and preferred house system. Not only does the planner include charming illustrations and a picture of your birth chart, it also has a snapshot of your solar return chart (a tremendous plus) and the planetary movements for the upcoming year.

It even shows which transits you’ll experience this year and when specifically the aspects are applying, separating, direct or out of orb (which is easily my favorite feature). This is super useful information that’s typically difficult to discern unless you do the calculations yourself using an ephemeris. I’ve found the Honeycomb Collective almanac especially helpful when I wanted to generate mercury, mars and venus return charts because it states the time (to the minute) that the transit will go exact.

6. Astrological Musings with Lynn Hayes– If you’re interested in keeping yourself up to date with the current astrological weather and energy of the time then look no further than Lynn Hayes’ Astrological Musings. Each week she shares a juicy, insightful video report detailing the major transits and planetary movements that you can expect over the next 8 days. Lynn is highly adept at breaking all the aspects down and explaining the energy in a warm and accessible way.

Her videos feel like a pleasant chat over coffee with a dear friend. Another popular and well-known astrologer who creates similar forecasts is Kaypacha and his infamous Pele Report. Take what resonates from both and you’ll be well on your way to expanding your astrological knowledge in no time.
