Summer is finally here. And while it may not be as temperate and flower-powered as spring or as cozy and fashion-forward as autumn, it has many charming qualities of its own. As each year goes by I grow more enchanted by its sunshine-y brilliance.
Cheers to a season whose number 1 fragrance is sea salt and sunscreen, whose radiant glow blesses us with the golden limbs of gods and goddesses. A time when nature’s candy abounds (give me all the Rainier cherries!) and I can indulge in one of my favorite activities- lounging by the pool with a bestseller in my lap.
Here are the many ways I will celebrating each sizzling day to its fullest…
Summer Bucket List
- An Italian picnic overlooking the beach at sunset
- Creating the ultimate fun and upbeat summer playlist- a must for pool days and road trips
- Annual trip to the county fair- a panorama of rainbow hues and world class people watching
- Abandoning my uniform of nearly all-black attire & boots in favor of creamy whites, sundresses and sandals
- A plethora of pool parties and a memorable Fourth of July family reunion
- Making delicious homemade pineapple and raspberry sorbet
- Eagerly anticipating the newest season of Stranger Things!
- Tackling my (mostly) thrilling and suspenseful summer reading list
- Going on a date night with my husband to see a summer blockbuster with an ulterior motive: taking refuge in the frosty caress of their air conditioning.
- Shopping for Christmas presents in July during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale
- Taking solemn vows to forego oven use during 100 degree days and opting for fruit salad, tomato sandwiches or avocado toast for dinner because I’d prefer not to melt thankyouverymuch
- The ambrosia that is the afternoon couch nap after a long day outside overdosing on sun
- Evening concert in the park

Would love to hear what your summer reading list is!
Hi Clarissa,
I actually did a post about my summer reading list not too long ago!
You can find it here.
It mostly consists of mystery/thrillers as that is what my taste veers towards.
Warmly,
~Avalon
