They Never Learn: A Review

they never learn by Layne Fargo

They Never Learn by Layne Fargo instantly blew me away with its harrowing plot and dazzling psychological prowess. Told from alternating points of view, this is the story of Scarlett Clark, English professor at Gorman University by day and vindictive serial killer by night. Scarlett’s simmering anger and violent predilections have spelled the demise of many despicable men who have unwittingly crossed her path. Meanwhile, Carly Schiller, a shy freshman from a troubled home is enamored by her magnetic and manipulative roommate Allie. When Allie is sexually assaulted at a party and the administration turns a blind eye, Carly begins fantasizing about punishing her attacker. Just how far will she go to avenge Allie?

Woohoo! So thankful to Layne Fargo for getting me out of a reading slump. This one earns an effortless 5 stars, my first of 2021💫   It has echoes of Jane Doe and Dexter and I could not put it down! It was deliciously dark and different- unlike anything I’ve ever read before. I was infatuated by the mysterious, sexy and lethal aura of our powerful femme fatale. I highly recommend They Never Learn to anyone that craves a brilliant and edgy thriller with exceptional characterization.
